The MBOP-NS team is a Blue Origin - University of Michigan Aerospace partnership within the AEROSP x88 course series. The x88 course series gives undergraduate students the opportunity to learn about the product development process by developing a product in partnership with various aerospace companies. The course series encourages a systems engineering mindset and exposes students to Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) throughout the product development cycle. Students begin by developing system requirements leading up to a Systems Requirements Review (SRR) with the respective customer, which leads into their Preliminary Design Review (PDR) at the end of the first semester. The second semester of the x88 course series consists of a Critical Design Review with any changes made post PDR, then ends off the year with a Flight Readiness Review (FRR) where the team delivers a flight ready unit to the customer, with proper requirements verification documentation. MBOP-NS is currently developing a payload that will be launched on Blue Origin's New Shepard launch vehicle.
