Team Mechintosh is an engineering project team at Sri Shakthi institute of engineering and technology which annually designs, builds and races an off-road vehicle to compete in SAE India's Collegiate Baja Design Series. By encouraging hands-on engineering and project-based learning, Team Mechintosh takes engineering out of the classroom (and onto the track) for 30 students annually. The competition comprises three main events. Static event consists of design, cost & sales presentations, with the design and cost reports submitted before the competition. Virtual Dynamic Event involves developing a single-seat, all-terrain vehicle designed in a virtual environment and maximising the virtual vehicle's performance in race-oriented scenarios. Dynamic event includes acceleration, traction, manoeuvrability, a speciality event, and endurance. Our purpose is to expand upon and apply the theory learned in the classroom through participation, leadership, outreach, design, and fabrication in an off-road Baja vehicle for SAE Design Series competitions. We'd also embrace outreaching the local community and educating the youth in science, engineering, technology and mathematics
