Penerbit PT. Media Pressindo berdiri sejak tanggal 22 oktober 1998. Pendirinya: Indra Ismawan, Indra Gunawan, Zainal Arifin, Danuri Soesetro (dua nama terakhir telah mengundurkan diri sebagai pesero pada tahun 2003). Pada saat MedPress berdiri, terjadi krisis ekonomi dan politik yang berujung pada runtuhnya Orde Baru. Oleh karena itu, pada awalnya, terbitan Media Pressindo banyak yang bertemakan sosial-politik dan kontroversi sejarah. Kontroversi Supersemar (dulu: Supersemar: Kudeta Soeharto) serta CIA dan Penggulingan Bung Karno adalah salah satu buku pertama yang hingga 2007 masih dicetak ulang.
Namun dalam perkembangannya, Media Pressindo melakukan berbagai di-versifikasi atau perluasan tema. Selain itu, Media Pressindo juga mengembang-kan unit percetakan (yang bernama MedPrint Offset) yang bertujuan untuk menopang kinerja penerbitan secara efektif dan efisien.
Media Pressindo dimiliki oleh Bapak Indra Ismawan selaku Direktur Utama Media Pressindo dan Narasi, Perusahaan atau penerbit buku ini memiliki beberapa pengelola dari cabang – cabang yang telah didirikan baik dari Manager Pemasaran, Keuangan dan Administrasi, HRD, serta bagian Pimred, Redpel, Editor, Desainer, Grafis, Setter atau layouter maupun Proof Reader.
