A key component in a knowledge-based economy is knowledge and skills of citizens as to provide professional requirements of the society. In this respect, development and preparation for new educational settings that mainly have up-to-date technologies is necessary. In 2004, MehrAlborz University (MAU), a non-governmental university, was founded with the aim to train and transform students to become professionals in the workplace. MAU aims to expand its presence and further develop its education base by offering e-learning and master degree programs, and also intends to provide professional demands of society depending on a knowledge-based economy. In the beginning years, master degree programs of the university included putting into action the domestic forms of programs formerly conducted in the world’s accredited online universities that are enriched with specialization, experience and style using e-learning. In 2005, after years of research work and study, by the efforts of a number of experienced managers and professional academics of management and IT fields the university received final confirmation of higher education development council of Science, Research and Technology Ministry and MAU was established. The main focus of the university’s programs in higher education during the first 5-year plan was setting up 5 master degrees in management fields. At first, MITM and MBA programs were set up and gradually within each year by supplying needed educational and technical infrastructures, a field of study will be added to the current MAU programs. The principal goal of the university is to offer a reasonable education pattern by way of applying world standards in education programs through experienced and knowledgeable professors, most qualified virtual content and most efficient e-learning system that meets Iranian culture. Nowadays, MAU is very well-known in different fields of study like, project Management, construction management, MBA, ICT, IT, etc.
