MentForMigra ist eine gemeinnützige Organisation zur Förderung gymnasialgeeigneter Schülerinnen und Schüler mit Migrationshintergrund, deren Eltern noch deutliche Barrieren im Deutschen haben.
Seit unserer Gründung im Jahr 2015 durch die Grundschullehrerin Dorothee Kettner, leistet das Mentoring-Programm MentForMigra einen wichtigen gesellschaftlichen Beitrag zur Bildungsförderung und Integration.
Wir identifizieren in Kooperation mit den Grundschulen junge Talente, die sogenannten Mentees, und vermitteln diese an ehrenamtliche, möglichst wohnortnahe Mentoren. Diese werden von unserem Team kontinuierlich fortgebildet und beraten. Sie fördern unsere Mentees in wöchentlichen Treffen ab dem Grundschulalter, um sie in ihrem Sprachvermögen und Selbstvertrauen zu stärken, damit diese einen möglichst hohen Bildungsabschluss erreichen. Tägliches Lesen der Mentees ist dabei Grundvoraussetzung für eine erfolgreiche Zusammenarbeit.
Aktuell werden in Düsseldorf und im Kreis Viersen über 200 Mentees gefördert.
Das Mentoring-Programm MentForMigra hat sich zu einem unverzichtbaren Bestandteil in der Düsseldorfer Bildungslandschaft entwickelt und wir wollen weiter wachsen.
Bundespräsident Frank-Walter Steinmeier und Elke Büdenbender würdigten die Arbeit von MentForMigra beim Neujahrsempfang 2024.
Damit weitere Mentees aufgenommen und unterstützt werden können, ist unsere gemeinnützige, spendenfinanzierte Organisation MentForMigra auf zusätzliche Fördermittel angewiesen.
