History
In 2015, Merseycider began as a university project by James Knowles, Nathan Burgess and Steven Carson. We also launched our Twitter account shortly after.
In 2018, Merseycider was reborn as a joint-venture by James and Steven. The second coming of Merseycider saw a rebrand of sorts as the website was given an overhaul and our current logo – designed by Joe Marsh – was created.
Merseycider’s Facebook and Instagram accounts were launched in 2018, opening us up to a whole new potential audience.
In the summer of 2018, Merseycider recruited the help of Bekky McGuinness – her job is to keep our social media profiles buzzing with content and to pitch in with articles of her own.
Focus
Our focus is pub culture and exceptional alcoholic drinks in the North West of England – and not primarily cider in Merseyside.
We’re likely to review pubs and bars (and their drinks) in Liverpool, Sefton, Wirral, Knowsley, St Helens, Halton, Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester.
Logo
The colour yellow is probably what strikes you first when seeing our logo but that’s not just a style choice. Yellow is the primary colour of Southport FC – James’ local football team.
A version of the Liver bird is also used in the logo and that’s to represent the city of Liverpool, where Steven is from and where both of the Merseycider lads studied at university.
We think the jugs are pretty self explanatory.
