METHODEM: Methodological Consensus for Complex Interventions in Dementia is an INTERDEM Methodology Taskforce-led project running over the next two years. The project aims at enhancing methodologies and designs for psychosocial interventions in dementia care.
To guide research efforts on successful development, evaluation, and implementation of complex psychosocial interventions in dementia care, METHODEM will undertake two complementary studies aim to (i)provide a comprehensive overview of which (novel) designs and methodologies are being used (Study 1: Scoping review); (ii) reach a consensus on which designs and methodologies (a) integrate the core elements of the MRC framework and (b) suit the objectives of each phase in this area best (i.e., which design/methodology is suitable when, how, and why) (Study 2: Delphi study).
METHODEM can help strengthen the quality, understanding and recommendations for research on psychosocial interventions, thereby reducing the gap between research and practice and improving the lives of people affected by dementia.
