There is an endless amount of great ideas & products that could be profitable, social impact businesses. Yet so few break through long term - Why is it so hard for them to succeed?
In 2020 I took a big swing, founding a social impact start up, Pond, to help nonprofits level up their impact and help nonprofit vendors scale their businesses. We built an online marketplace, grew a team, raised capital and built an engaged community that brought together a highly disparate ecosystem.
Ultimately, we were also one of those social impact start ups that couldn’t quite break through long term - but I learned an incredible amount in the process about myself, the market and the amazing people making things happen for social good.
I’m dedicating my next chapter to those people - bringing all of that experience to partner with mission-driven founders to define their strategy, share their story and successfully sell their offering to all stakeholders.
I’ve been through all of the early-stage founder struggles myself, so I know how quickly needs change and how nimble those teams have to be.
My engagements are generally structured as long-term partnerships where I can support from ideation through execution across several functions.
That ranges from brand positioning, defining new revenue streams, building out sales pipelines, establishing partner networks, creating or revamping key marketing functions, executive thought leadership, hiring referrals, fundraising, etc.
The beautiful thing about working in social impact is that everyone has an amazing story to be told, and it’s your biggest asset in building your business.
My superpower is to clarify that story and infuse it with every part of the company that’s externally facing.
This makes it easier for your supporters to promote you, for the right customers to find you and for your growing community to be truly motivated by your mission.
