Mpilo Foundation is een stichting die zich voornamelijk richt op het land Zimbabwe.
Via Mpilo Foundation helpen wij scholen, kindertehuizen en afgelegen dorpen bij het realiseren van schoon (drink)water en elektriciteit met behulp van zonne-energie.
Hoe willen wij 'leven' bieden met Mpilo Foundation?
Dat begint volgens ons door het helpen met het realiseren van basisbehoeften aan water en elektriciteit.
Een belangrijke basisbehoefte naast eten en drinken is veiligheid. Dat willen wij bieden. En dan ook het liefst zo duurzaam mogelijk:
✔️Zonne-energie is duurzaam
✔️Elektriciteit door zonne-energie betekent licht
✔️Licht biedt veiligheid in het donker
In Zimbabwe is er gebrek aan schoon water en elektriciteit. Dit is iets wat wij ons bijna niet kunnen voorstellen.
Bijna een derde van de huishoudens in Zimbabwe moet minstens een half uur lopen om water te halen, vaak zijn dit vrouwen en kinderen die kilometers moeten lopen om (schoon) drinkwater te krijgen.
Slechts een derde van de huishoudens in Zimbabwe heeft elektriciteit, op het platteland beschikt zo'n 10% van de bevolking over elektriciteit. Het elektriciteitsnet is dus vaak niet aanwezig voor de mensen in Zimbabwe of het elektriciteitsnet is onbetrouwbaar.
Elektriciteit betekent ook contact met de buitenwereld. Middels elektriciteit kunnen deze mensen hun mobiele telefoon opladen. Veel mensen in Afrika gebruiken hun mobiele telefoon voor geldaangelegenheden.
Onze kwaliteit van leven is voor een groot deel afhankelijk van de toegankelijkheid van onze basisbehoeften.
Mpilo Foundation wil middels de stichting deze basisbehoeften bieden aan mensen die dit keihard nodig hebben. Deze basisbehoeften zijn van wezenlijk belang voor de ontwikkeling en gezondheid van mensen.
