Welcome to the website of Dr. Mike Deninger and Trauma Counseling & Training of Tucson. “Dr. Mike” is an accomplished educator, mental health therapist, author, trainer, and public speaker who is a leading proponent of the use of eye movement integration therapies for PTSD and other mental health disorders. His extensive experience in the treatment of trauma has culminated in the 2021 publication of Multichannel Eye Movement Integration: The Brain Science Path to Easy and Effective PTSD Treatment. This multisensory, “bottom-up” therapy for PTSD is modeled on the original Eye Movement Integration (EMI) technique developed by Steve and Connirae Andreas and a later adaptation by Ron Klein he called EMI™. These earlier versions were taught exclusively via live seminars, and because written procedures for the techniques were never developed, therapists who attended the seminars were reluctant to use the therapy. That problem has now been solved.
This book provides everything a therapist needs to know to treat PTSD, acute stress, and other mental health disorders with Multichannel Eye Movement Integration (MEMI). This new therapy’s easy to understand theoretical model, derived from Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) principles and presuppositions, provides the framework for its straightforward protocol, procedures, therapist scripts and assessment techniques. Comparatively speaking, MEMI is much less complicated than EMDR and other eye movement therapies, easier on the client, and yet it yields faster results
A trauma survivor himself, Dr. Mike writes with a confidence that only one “who has been there” can. In his first book, Snakes in My Dreams: A Mental Health Therapist’s Odyssey from Hardship to Healer, Mike described his own story of abuse, forgotten memories, recovery and triumph over PTSD. With this new publication he combines his survivor experience with his proficiency as a trauma professional to bring forth a new therapy for PTSD unlike any other
