The MultiKnee research group was established in 2018 with Lovisenberg Diaconal Hospital as the host institution. The objective of our research is to develop knowledge on risk factors of a poor outcome following surgery, and to optimize treatment for osteoarthritis using a multidisciplinary and biopsychosocial approach. We have two affiliated partners: Martina Hansens Hospital, Bærum, and Coastal Hospital Hagevik, Bergen.
Our research is organized into several substudies:
1) A multicenter randomized controlled trial to test optimized treatment for knee osteoarthritis (MultiKnee Pain, MultiKnee QOL)
2) Evaluate cost-effectiveness and resource demands in management of knee osteoartritis
3) Develop knowledge on rehabilitation trajectories following total knee arthroplasty surgery and risk factors to a poor treatment outcome
4) Investigate health literacy, digital competence, executive function and self-management strategies in patients with osteoarthritis
Our research is funded by the Research Council of Norway, South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority, and Western Norway Regional Health Authority.
