Native Hooves is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Our mission and goal is for the program to offer free Equine Therapy to the children in our foster care system. We also want to open our doors to those who could benefit from a different form of counseling. Equine Therapy is an alternative form of talk therapy that utilizes the horse as a partner to meet therapeutic goals.
Why Horses? Horses have a unique capability to reflect everything you need to know about yourself. They are extremely in tune with energy, emotion, and unspoken communication.
Research on Equine Therapy has shown a magnitude of benefits including increased self-confidence, self-awareness, improved social skills, self-control, trust and more.
Sessions are tailored to each individual and include an intensive processing component. This processing piece is intended to encourage exploration and reflection of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that have emerged. Using different strategies and metaphors, the lessons learned and skills gained from the therapy session can be transferred into real-life situations that aid in personal growth, healing, and learning.
Due to limited resources and the initial start of our Organization, Native Hooves Therapy Program does not have a physical location yet, but we do conduct Equine Assisted Learning day events in the surrounding Dallas Fort Worth areas! We are currently working on funding and excited to get started! Please check out our Support page for more.
