The National Science Foundation created a research center to support the use of airborne laser mapping technology for the scientific community. The NSF supported National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping is operated jointly by the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Houston and the Department of Earth & Planetary Science at the University of California, Berkeley.
