The North Carolina Senior Living Association (NCSLA) has set forth a series of goals and objectives aimed at promoting and supporting the assisted living and senior living industry in North Carolina. These objectives include: Mission Promotion: Supporting the mission of the NCSLA. Advocacy for Assisted Living: Promoting assisted living as a cost-effective and preferable alternative to highly clinical environments for seniors. Representation: Ensuring representation for assisted living residents and providers with agencies and governing bodies that establish relevant laws, regulations, and policies. Quality of Life: Advocating for laws, regulations, and policies that promote a higher quality of life, respecting the rights of residents to independence, choice, personalized care, and risk-sharing. Non-Discrimination: Preventing discrimination in the availability of community resources to residents of senior living homes. Outcome-Based Regulation: Supporting a regulatory context focused on outcome measures for residents rather than structural aspects. Fair Treatment: Ensuring fair and reasonable treatment of assisted living providers, balancing appropriate incentives with punitive measures. Member Assistance: Assisting members in solving problems to enable the delivery of quality services to residents. Collaboration: Working with the Governor, General Assembly, Department of Human Resources, and other state agencies to ensure fair reimbursement for services provided. Public Education: Educating and supporting various groups involved in monitoring, enforcement, advocacy, and policymaking. Data Gathering: Conducting studies and gathering data to support meaningful initiatives and problem-solving. Trend Awareness: Staying informed about national and state-level trends affecting the industry.
