The Network of Entrepreneurs Readers & Designers in Africa (NERDAFRICA) is a social enterprise designed to aggregate and strengthen the work done by youth-championed initiatives, organisations, or businesses by fostering partnership between them and providing practical tools of support. Our vision is creating a cross-boarder community that upholds the importance of working together for the empowerment and capacitation of the African continent. Our mission is to empower youth initiatives by showcasing and drawing attention to the work they do; equipping them to on how to sustain their efforts over the long run by providing training and development opportunities that focus on building credibility and developing a portfolio of impact that potential stakeholders can interrogate; and allowing them to collaborate and partner with those doing similar work, scale out, and significantly aggregate impact across the 12 Sustainable Development Goals that directly impact children and youth. We believe that more can be achieved when we work together, and are in the process of developing an online database that showcases the work done by youth across the African continent towards the development Africa and it’s people, as a way of connecting them to others doing similar or complimentary work. Focusing on the mandate set out by SDG 17, the aim of the database is to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the global partnership for sustainable development on the African continent. By harvesting the potential of youth between the ages of 18 and 35, the Network can potentially reduce the number of youth not in education, employment and training (NEET) at scale, provide data on youth-facing initiatives and their impact in the interest of informing youth policy and reform, and strengthen implementation efforts in local communities, African countries, and across the continent.
