NEU Graz wurde als Verein gegründet, dessen Mitglieder die Überzeugung teilen, dass Österreich und vor allem Graz eine lange Tradition eines interkulturellen gesellschaftlichen Zusammenlebens besitzt. Im Mittelpunkt steht GRAZ – eine Stadt dessen Bekanntheitsgrad von einer Menschenrechtsstadt, über Kulturhauptstadt Europas bis hin zu einer „City of Design“ reicht und als Hauptstadt des Landes Steiermark gilt. Es geht um eine Stadt, die sich zu einer Universitätsstadt mit 45.000 Studierenden entwickelt hat und gleichzeitig für Familien attraktiv geblieben ist. Es ist aber vor allem jene Stadt, dessen Stadtbild durch ihre Zivilgesellschaft geprägt ist und die, durch die Sprachenvielfalt, der über 170 gezählten, in Graz lebenden, Nationen verfeinert wird. Es ist eine Stadt, die durch ihre Seele eine Heimat bietet und auf welche die Grazer und Grazerinnen sehr stolz sein können und es auch sind.
