One cannot explain the devastation stroke can have on one's life, unless it actually happens to you. The books 'Through the Eyes of a Survivor' are the author's way for loved ones to understand what a patient is experiencing by taking the reader deep into their world and letting them see life through their eyes; from the inside looking out.
My mission is to bring a better understanding of stroke to the family. Informal caregivers should understand what is expected of them before blindly jumping in.

At eighteen, I was involved in a head-on collision when a drunk driver failed to stop at a stop sign and collided head-on with my vehicle.
After a lengthy hospital stay, they discharged me into the care of my loving family. The years that followed were a sheer nightmare for those close to me, and after an extended recuperation, I miraculously made a full recovery.
In 2011, disaster struck again, but this time, it changed my life forever. I survived a near-fatal haemorrhagic brainstem stroke, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, striking with a destructive force and little to no warning.
Surviving the stroke came with a hefty price tag, one that cost me an arm and a leg. It left him with permanent hemiplegia down the left side of my body.
Once again, I evaded a meeting with the Grim Reaper. On both occasions, they turned out to be life-altering ordeals.
I wrote these books intending to take the unknown out of the equation, especially for those with loved one's going through a similar ordeal. The books will take you into the head and life of the survivor, helping you to see things through their eyes, from the inside out.
