NHS Dorset is the commissioning organisation for the whole county of Dorset. The group is a membership organisation, formed of all 86 local GP practices in the county.

Our principal work is to plan, develop and buy health services on behalf of the local people. We are responsible for buying:

Urgent and emergency care, including the 111 service
Community health services
Mental health and learning disability services
Rehabilitation care
Maternity, children's and family services

Each of these work programmes is led by a GP, supported by other doctors, specialists and commissioning managers.
