The Montenegrin Olympic Committee was recognized as the National Olympic Committee at the IOC Session in Guatemala City on July 7, 2007. From that date, Montenegro officially became part of the global Olympic movement, and the Montenegrin Olympic Committee officially became a part of the International Olympic Committee.
This fulfilled the formal prerequisites for Montenegro to become a part of the Olympic family, enabling our country to make its first appearance at the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.
Since its inception, the Montenegrin Olympic Committee has been working on promoting the fundamental principles of Olympism, endorsing Olympic values, and supporting other sports institutions that are committed to the same ideals.
At the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, we are dedicated to the development of both professional and recreational sports. The goal is to make sports accessible to everyone, without discrimination.
The Montenegrin Olympic Committee, in collaboration with competent institutions, is devoted to preserving the integrity of sports, specifically in the fight against doping and in preventing negative phenomena in sports.
We continually work on strengthening international cooperation in the field of sports, promoting sports diplomacy as a modern way of fostering relationships among countries.
We achieve our objectives as a non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit sports organization that operates independently. Through us, as the National Olympic Committee of Montenegro, the national and international sports interests of Montenegro are realized.
