NUS School of Computing began as the Nanyang University Department of Computer Science (DCS), which was founded in 1975 and was the first of its kind in Singapore. When Nanyang University and the University of Singapore merged in 1980, DCS became part of the Faculty of Science in the new National University of Singapore (NUS). The department grew quickly and, in 1983, evolved into the Department of Information Systems and Computer Science (DISCS). By 1998, the field of computing and the department had developed so extensively that it warranted the establishment of a new faculty - thus, the NUS School of Computing (NUS Computing) was formed. Since then, NUS Computing has developed into one of the best computing schools in the world and attained global prominence. Our faculty members produce diverse, relevant, innovative research in many areas, our students are highly sought-after and we have garnered a large network of alumni, including those who helm some of the industry’s leading organisations, over the last four decades.
