Die Odd Fellows sind eine internationale, politisch und konfessionell ungebundene (und neutrale) Vereinigung. Ihre Grundhaltung beruht auf der Aufklärung, mit fortschrittlichem Denken und Handeln. Damals wie heute. Die Odd Fellows stehen ein für Persönlichkeitsförderung, ethisches und humanistisches Denken und Handeln sowie für die Pflege der Freundschaft. In der Schweiz gibt es rund 1'200 Mitglieder, weltweit sind es etwa 180'000.
Den Odd Fellows, die kommendes Jahr ihr 150-jähriges Bestehen ihrer Präsenz in der Schweiz feiern, haftet bis heute das Image einer Art «Geheimloge» an. Das war in den Gründungsjahren der ersten Logen auch durchaus der Fall. Damalige Unternehmer wurden durch die rigide und oft feindliche Haltung der Obrigkeit ihnen gegenüber in den Untergrund getrieben. Die Mitglieder der Logen mussten sich auch selber gegenseitig unterstützen, weil damals die ganzen Errungenschaften der heutigen Zeit, wie Versicherungen, Krankenkassen etc., fehlten. Viele Grundsätze sind in unserem heutigen politischen und wirtschaftlichen System natürlich obsolet geworden, und so entwickelten sich die Odd Fellows zu einem weltoffenen, modernen Netzwerk von Unternehmerinnen und Unternehmern, die sich stark in wohltätigen Aktivitäten engagieren und hohe ethische und humanistische Grundsätze und Ziele verfolgen.
