Optical Metaphor is a creative laboratory where glass and light act as a means of expressing thought. Each project results from time-consuming cooperation between designers, lighting engineers and glassblowers. We create an idea, model and manufacture glass elements, assemble it into a single installation and integrate light into it, fine-tuning all the components.
Why such a name? Everything is simple! Optics defines the properties of light and explains the phenomena associated with it. Optical effects are by default associated with glass because they are created with it. Like a metaphor, our works reveal the essence of some phenomena through others. Thus, we use a solid but light-transmitting material to reveal architectural spaces with optical radiation - light.
"Metaphor" leads to the creative aspect of the physical meaning of the word "Optical" because Optical Metaphor is precisely about creativity. Each created work is not just a chandelier but a glass sculpture, a work of art that reveals the essence and philosophy of the space for which it was made.
