NVU Don Bosko centar, which operates within the Catholic Church in Konik, gathers a large number of young people, who participate in organizing various educational, creative, sports and other programs and workshops. The main goal of the organization is to prevent the emergence of socially deviant behavior. In addition to this, some of the goals are:
-development of children and young people into responsible, creative, capable young people who will contribute to the development of the society in which they live;
-encourage them to express themselves and say what they think, to listen to others' opinions and respect differences;
-stimulate the exchange of ideas and experiences and mutual understanding;
-promote their physical development and introduce them to healthy lifestyles;
Our center is visited by children and young people who often come from socially disadvantaged families, those who live on the margins of society, without parental care. We want to get them off the streets, give them a hand of help and support, and promote their mental and physical development through various activities.
We are open to everyone regardless of national, religious or any other affiliation. Visitors to the center most often come from the area of Konik, Stari aerodrome, Kakaricka gora, Masline and Omerbožaja and are aged from 7 to 20 years old. The center operates according to the principles of Don Bosco's preventive system, which is the trademark of our institution.
The youth center has existed since 1998 and was registered as a non-governmental association in 2011.
