Out in education email format

Out in Education is a not-for-profit based in Nottingham that delivers workshops, lessons and assemblies to tackle homophobia at primary and secondary schools. We aim to create an inclusive environment at schools through educating pupils about what is means to be lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender. This includes topics such as: stereotypes, cyber-bullying, offensive language, different families and healthy relationships. We also help schools create effective pupil-led anti-bullying policies. Out in Education is ran by young people, for young people. We source volunteers from active University LGBT Networks across the UK to deliver these workshops in conjunction with the schools we go into. We feel as though this student-led and pupil-sustained approach is what leads the project to be so successful. We have worked with the local education authority and been into over 30 schools in Nottinghamshire and the surrounding area. The positive impact we have on pupils at schools we go into can be seen through Ofsted reports, schools that have displayed pupils' anti-bullying polices at their school and our continued visits to schools in the area.
