Die Firma Piloten Service Robert Rieger GmbH in Vilshofen an der Donau wurde 1965 durch Herrn Robert Rieger gegründet und befasste sich bis 1971 vornehmlich mit dem Handel von Flugzeugen und Pilotenzubehör.
1972 gründete Robert Rieger erstmals ein Servicecenter in Vilshofen, das sich auf den Handel sowie die Instandhaltung und Wartung von Flugzeugen spezialisierte.
Bereits im Jahre 1976 wurde eine zweite Werft in Straubing am Flugplatz Wallmühle eröffnet.
Der Luftfahrttechnische Betrieb ist inzwischen seit über 35 Jahren vom Luftfahrt Bundesamt für fast alle Kolbenflugzeuge bis 5,7 Tonnen lizensiert. Unter anderem Turbinenflugzeuge wie Piper, Cheyenne Serien, Socata TBM 700, Piper Meridian und Jetprop.
Die Firma beschäftigt momentan 33 qualifizierte Mitarbeiter, darunter fünf Certifying Staff Cat C und B1 mit EASA Lizenzen und EASA Teil 66.
