Charities have long struggled with the task of keeping small donors engaged to provide a more consistent source of funding. Americans are very generous and are very likely to make donations when a need captures their attention. Perhaps it's footage from a hurricane-ravaged state or images of starving children in a far away land, but there is usually something that grabs hold of them and makes them want to donate. When that happens, those donors are engaged. Unfortunately, donors also have a short attention span and often this engagement wanes as the images or events that spurned it fade from view. Pledgeraising is a new and innovative way for charities to strengthen and, more importantly, maintain engagement with small donors. Pledges are nothing new. A donor pledges a certain amount based on the outcome of some future event. Pledgeraising takes the idea of pledges to a whole new level. Donors make pledges and play games to raise more donations for their favorite charity.
