As raw nutritional material whose inherent value has been historically unrealized, beer brewer’s spent grain (BSG) and brewer’s spent yeast (BSY) are the waste by-products of beer production. The possibility of converting BSG and BSY into high-value products has long been both attractive and elusive to brewers.

The result reduces waste and unnecessary shipping impacts, and helps eliminate both animal cruelty and the destructive land use often required for other plant-based protein sources.

Plentify’s defensible path to enabling these aspirations is coupled with delivering the world’s first engineered, non-novel (no regulatory hurdles) source of fully-specified protein materials. The company’s market advantage is spearheaded by two extraordinary professors from Israel’s Ben Gurion University, with expertise in biochemistry, microbiology and physics. This team has developed world-leading expertise and IP in up-cycling large amounts of beer production waste into high-value, high-margin sources of protein, using off-the-shelf industrial components.
