LPP Polytechnic is historically closely related to Indonesia's plantation human resource development center, the Plantation Education Institute (LPP). This institution is the development of the State Sugar College (CGN) which was established in 1950, an institution that prepares sugar experts in Indonesia. In 1960, CGN changed to AGN (Akademi Gula Negara) while still graduating sugar experts. The development of human resources for sugar plantations was then extended to various plantations (oil palm, tea, coffee, cocoa, etc.), so AGN was transformed into the Plantation Education Institute (LPP) in 1970. Because the need for plantation human resources is increasing, at the will of plantation companies, LPP was asked to open a Plantation Business Expert Education (PAUP) program, or a DIII equivalent education program with majors in Agronomy, Mechanical Engineering, Processing and Accounting. PAUP was established in 1983. Over time PAUP developed into LPP Polytechnic which was established by Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture Number 66/D/O/1997 and Decree of the Director General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture Number 319/Dikti/Kep/1998. LPP Polytechnic was established by Minister of Education and Culture Decree No. 66/D/O/1997 and Director General of Higher Education Decree No. 319/Dikti/Kep/1998. LPP Polytechnic has 6 study programs, namely: 1. Bachelor of Applied Science, Chemical Engineering 2. Bachelor of Applied Science, Mechanical Engineering 3. Bachelor of Applied Science, Plantation Management 4. Associate/Diploma Programme, Agronomy 5. Associate/Diploma Programme, Accounting 6.
