One of the main strategic goals of the Portuguese Government is attracting more and better Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), which is essential for Portugal to expand its financial resources and reinforce the competitiveness of the economic tissue.
Also, the decision of the people of the United Kingdom to leave the European Union in the referendum of June 2016 created specific challenges which need to be addressed by the remaining member states in the EU.
That’s why our Government decided to create a new temporary task force, Portugal In, responding directly to the Prime Minister, with the following purposes:
- Promote and boost national and European distinctive factors and values as competitive elements to attract FDI;
- Identify and monitor FDI opportunities together with different government areas and already existing public entities operating in Portugal in this field;
- Offer personalized service for foreign investors who intend to remain in the EU after the Brexit in an “one stop shop” model.
