HERON is a non-profit sports organization for the promotion of Sport, Play and Education using projects,
courses and initiatives designed to cater for all ages and abilities.
It was founded in 2016 by a group of young and motivated people who shared an innovative and dynamic vision of the world of sport.
Heron's main objective is the promotion of sport seen as a tool capable of supporting peace, development and social inclusion, while maintaining its founding educational values. Its goal is to sustain a holistic approach, based on its ability to co-design projects with schools, foundations, private social organizations and public administrations. Today, Heron has 10 permanent employees and approximately 100 freelance sports staff. The organization has the capacity to supply sports courses in the gym, school projects, summer and winter camps, after-school activities, various courses and training activities, extending the age range of its target participants to include adults and senior citizens. Approximately 1,500 people living in the provinces of Reggio Emilia and Modena currently make use of its services.
Furthermore Heron has gained a leading role in providing programmes designed for children, teenagers, and families. It has become a preferential partner and focal point for those who believe in the values of sport, play and education, focusing on well-being instead of the competitive side of sport alone.
