Projek BacaBaca began its pilot project in 2021 to meet the needs of 30 primary school urban students living in poverty from Kuala Lumpur by
- Allocating a volunteer to a student for the duration of 6 months
- Teaching reading in Bahasa Melayu
- Teaching reading in English and
- Monitoring progress and improvement through diagnostic, mid-term and end of project tests
After a successful pilot project, students have shown improvement in:
- Reading skills
- Reading interest
- Ability to converse with volunteers on topics related to reading materials
Projek BacaBaca is ready for its next stage in 2022 involving 100 primary students living in poverty across different states in Malaysia
