Wir fordern die Aufnahme des Diskriminierungsmerkmals »Elternschaft« in § 1 des Allgemeinen Gleichbehandlungsgesetzes (AGG) bzw. eine Ergänzung des AGG – z.B. nach dem österreichischen Vorbild, wonach in der Arbeitswelt niemand »Auf Grund des Geschlechtes, insbesondere unter Bezugnahme auf den Familienstand oder den Umstand, ob jemand Kinder hat, unmittelbar oder mittelbar diskriminiert werden darf.« (§ 4 GlBG).
Eine entsprechende Regelung im AGG würde alle berufstätigen Eltern, unabhängig von Familienstand und vom Geschlecht umfassen: Mütter, Väter, egal ob alleinerziehend, oder in gleichgeschlechtlicher Partnerschaft – vom Minijobber bis zur Geschäftsführerin. Sie alle wären durch eine klare gesetzliche Grundlage vor Benachteiligungen geschützt, könnten Anspruch auf Schadensersatz geltend machen und sich im Diskriminierungsfall auf eine Beweislastumkehr stützen.
Darüberhinaus wollen wir einen öffentlichen Dialog in Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft zum Thema Diskriminierung von Eltern, insbesondere in der Arbeitswelt, anstoßen. Initiiert wurde #proparents von Sandra Runge & Karline Wenzel.
