Origins: Dominic Barton, Worldwide Managing Director of McKinsey & Company, and Joseph Nye, University Distinguished Service Professor of the Harvard Kennedy School, called for future leaders to be cross-sector leaders: able to engage and collaborate across the business, government and non-profit sectors. We wanted to learn more. So Nick Lovegrove and Matthew Thomas, also McKinsey consultants, conducted in-depth interviews with 150 leaders spanning various sectors and identified amongst them the Six Traits of Cross-Sector Leaders. These traits enable cross-sector leaders to address complex issues, drive innovation, and be happier individuals. To continue their work, Nick and Matthew founded Prospect Madison in 2013.
