Pustak Pitara was a passion project – a second-hand book marketplace I and my co-founders started and ran for a year and a half.
We connected book lovers across India, from Bhopal to Karnataka, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Goa, fostering a community of over 1000 students, parents, and avid readers.
Our mission was to make reading accessible and affordable, giving pre-loved books a new life.
In Bhopal, we focused on connecting school students and parents, facilitating the buying and selling of second-hand textbooks.
We also partnered with local roadside vendors, expanding their reach and providing a wider selection to our customers.
We were proud to have generated over ₹2.5 lakh in revenue and a profit exceeding ₹50,000. Beyond the business, we were committed to social impact, organizing donation drives to benefit local communities in Bhopal.
While Pustak Pitara has now closed its doors, the experience was invaluable. We learned firsthand about the challenges of building and scaling a seasonal business. Despite the closure, we are grateful for the connections made, the impact we had, and the valuable lessons learned about entrepreneurship, community building, and the book industry.
