RAPAD Power Grid is a unique community-led collaboration between the Central Western Queensland Remote Area Planning and Development Board (RAPAD), Barcaldine Regional Council (BRC) and Queensland-owned VisIR Pty Ltd, originators of the $5 billion CopperString 2032 project.
The RAPAD Power Grid will utilise world-leading, innovative, HVDC technology; a first for the Australian transmission industry and comprises:
- 5.2 GW HVDC transmission capacity
- 4.2 GW solar generation
- Common user battery storage (to be sized based on technical and commercial optimisation)
