Re:Source zet met de gloednieuwe fabriek in Wielsbeke een site op de kaart die een uniek proces huisvest. Focus: maximale efficiëntie, minimale verspilling. Timing: operationeel in de eerste helft van 2024.
In een eerste fase werkt Re:Source met instroom vanuit de aardappelverwerking, een sterk groeiende industrie. De eerste Re:Source-productie richt zich op de petfood sector. Maar liefst de helft van de Belgen heeft een huisdier… door deze voeding duurzamer te produceren, maakt Re:Source onmiddellijk het verschil.
In de toekomst kan het proces ook gebruikt worden voor andere nevenstromen, bijvoorbeeld van landbouwers en groenteverwerkende bedrijven. Er is potentieel om de installatie uit te breiden voor het produceren van menselijke voeding. Eiwitten, zetmeel en vezels uit de nevenstromen kunnen toepassingen krijgen in onder andere bindmiddel voor sauzen, eiwit voor vegan applicaties, proteïneshakes…
