Reddingsbrigade “Paal 13” is een actieve vereniging met zo'n 150 leden. Gedurende de zomermaanden bezoeken bij mooi weer gemiddeld 40.000 mensen ons strand. Onze twee strandposten zijn prominent aanwezig en vormen een punt van herkenning op het strand van Callantsoog en Groote Keeten.
Doelstelling van Reddingsbrigade "Paal 13" Callantsoog & Groote Keeten is het voorkomen van ongevallen op zee en op het strand in de ruimste zin van het woord.
1. Strandbewaking
Tijdens het zomerseizoen zijn wij 7 dagen per week operationeel. Een vast team van betaalde strandwachten en een aantal vrijwilligers bewaakt dan actief en preventief de gepachte stranden. Teven beschikt onze brigade over een permanente Reddingsbrigadeploeg, die 365 dagen per jaar via de pieper gealarmeerd kan worden.
2. Opleidingen
Tijdens het zomerseizoen verzorgen wij de lifeguard opleidingen op het strand. Buiten het zomerseizoen verzorgen wij lifeguard diploma's in het zwembad.
3. Verenigingsleven
Ondanks het feit dat onze strandbewaking voornamelijk berust op een team van betaalde strandwachten, is het belangrijk dat het verenigingsleven in stand wordt gehouden. Hierdoor worden jeugdleden en vrijwilligers gestimuleerd en beter betrokken bij onze organisatie.
