Le Refuge, Animaux Assistance Europe (AAE) a ouvert ses portes le 1er avril 2002 en tant qu'association, affiliée à la confédération nationale des SPA de France située à Lyon.
Sa mission première est de recueillir les animaux abandonnés par leurs propriétaires ainsi que ceux qui sortent de la fourrière pour leur donner des soins et leur trouver une famille d'accueil. La politique de l'association est de ne pas pratiquer d'euthanasie arbitraire.
Sa seconde mission est de s'occuper des affaires de maltraitance qui nous sont signalées, environ une centaine par an.
La Pension féline et canine
En juin 2004, une pension a été ouverte pour accueillir des pensionnaires toute l'année.
Bien que la législation oblige l'identification des chiens depuis 1999 et celle des chats depuis 2012, nous constatons que 48,9% de chiens et 8% de chats ne sont pas identifiés (puce ou tatouage), favorisant l'abandon massif que nous enregistrons à chaque période estivale.
