You’ll find our little haven, Responsible Brewing, located in Muizenberg, South Africa. It’s a distillery close to our hearts, as it’s a family-owned business that embraces the timeless art of crafting exceptional artisanal rum using traditional methods.
Our standard rum, Hair of the Dog, was named after the hangover cure “hair of the dog that bit you” and to pay homage to the family’s beloved Great Danes. It started as a passion project during the long days at home during the 2020 lockdown. After many months of trial and error, this traditionally made rum was born from the mind of our lead distiller. It was our first high-quality white spirit and has become our Wooded, specialty spiced rum and liqueur base. Our wooded rum is aged with Kareeboom giving it a unique local caramel flavour. We developed this rum to be easy to sip and still present intense flavour when mixed with coke.
