Mijn naam is Baukje van der Wal. Sinds het voorjaar van 2019 woon ik samen met mijn gezin weer in Buitenpost, Friesland. Daarvoor hebben we 10 jaar in Ethiopië gewoond en gewerkt. Naast het bedrijf wat we daar hebben opgezet ben ik gestart met UBUNTU Lifestyle. Een merk dat door onszelf ontworpen producten uit Ethiopië verkoopt. Ik hou er van om met product- en interieurontwerp bezig te zijn en nu we weer in Nederland wonen kan ik hiermee verder aan de slag.
Toen we 10 jaar geleden naar Ethiopië vertrokken hebben we al onze spullen verkocht, weggegeven of weggegooid. We lieten onze spullen los en vertrokken met 4 koffers op naar een nieuw avontuur. Dat loslaten van spullen gaf ons toen zoveel vrijheid en rust. We hadden qua spullen niets om ons zorgen over te maken. Wat een overzicht en rust gaf dat. Een leven zonder ballast. Na een jaar reizen door Afrika gingen we ons vervolgens settelen in Ethiopië. Tijd om ons weer ergens thuis te voelen.
Ik heb geleerd hoe belangrijk het is om een thuis te hebben. Een plek om op te laden en om tot rust te komen. Met mooie ingerichte kamers die overzichtelijk zijn en ruimte geven. Vandaar ook de naam ROMTE (=fries woord voor RUIMTE) Interieuradvies. Want het gaat niet alleen om de fysieke ruimte, maar ook de ruimte die daardoor in ons hoofd ontstaat. Dit verhaal wil ik graag delen en hopelijk samen met jou uitwerken.
