Rookiebox is based on the successful story of Iceland. In 2008, Iceland was in a deep financial downturn. The government changed and they carried out a new frame in which tourism was the key point for recovery. Therefore tourism was attracted through culture, creating opportunities for young talent. That way every city could have at least one festival per month. Over the years some of those festivals become international. Nowadays, Iceland is a frozen country but it is considered a country of Festivals.
In 10 years, the visitors of Iceland have increased from 500.000 tourists to 1.500.000.
