Die Rotstift AG bietet höchste Qualität im Korrekturlesen in vier Sprachen, sie ist in der Deutschschweiz wegen ihrer Kompetenz und ihrer Vielseitigkeit zur Institution geworden. Die Firma wurde im Januar 1991 von Gabriela Hartmann in Basel gegründet mit dem Ziel, einen druckereiunabhängigen, professionellen Korrekturservice anzubieten. Das Unternehmen entwickelte sich erfolgreich, da die Kunden einen Service suchten, der die Qualität ihrer Texte bezüglich Orthografie, Grammatik und Typografie gewährleistet. Zehn Jahre später wurde eine Filiale in Bern gegründet. Zurzeit beschäftigen die beiden Geschäftsstellen über zwanzig Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter, somit ist die Rotstift AG eines der grössten Unternehmen ihrer Branche. Anfang 2012 zog sich die Inhaberin aus der Geschäftsleitung zurück. Sie ist weiterhin Präsidentin des Verwaltungsrates.
Das Engagement in der Weiterbildung hat in der Rotstift AG Tradition. Mehrere Korrektorinnen und Korrektoren arbeiten beim Korrektorenfernkurs mit und sind als Expertinnen oder Experten bei der eidgenössischen Fachprüfung tätig.
