Sahtas Terracotta Corporation was established as a family business in 1979 in Izmir, Turkey. The business remains family owned and has since become one of the leading manufacturers in Turkey. In 1995, Sahtas started exporting its products and has since been exporting to the US, UK, Canada and to more than 10 countries in the EU. Currently, Sahtas exports 95% of its total production.
The main factory sits on 100,000 m2 land with a 17,000 m2 of closed space. In 2022, Sahtas completed the construction of a brand-new factory equipped with state-of-the-art technology and commenced production. The newly established facility spans 31,500 m2 of open space and has 22,000 m2 of closed space. This facility is expected to achieve zero CO2 emission rate before 2035 and currently consumes 0.47kg of CO2eq/kg product.
With its two facilities, the annual production capacity of Sahtas is approximately 30,000 tons.
Sahtas holds ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 10002 certificates and has also obtained ACTM, UKCA, CE and TSE certifications, reflecting on its excellence in materials, production and safety. Furthermore, the company is an active member of the Lucideon UK and the NBRC at Clemson University and continues to push the boundaries of innovation and quality. Sahtas has received satisfactory EPD and Sedex reports solidifying its commitment to sustainability, human rights and integrity.
In the future, Sahtas hopes to increase its capacity and export range with the addition of new industrial kilns and innovative clay making solutions.
