The IT Divisions Vision is to promote the science and art of the use of electronic computers in the field of civil engineering through the provision of training and dissemination of information relating to electronic computational procedures and related technologies and by holding formal and informal meetings, symposia and webinars relating to these subjects.
The focus of the IT division vision is to add value the following ways:
1. Educating our industry on new technologies, new developments, (for
example the 4th Industrial Revolution, Artificial Intelligence, BIM, Cloud
collaboration), both from a hardware and software perspective to re-
imagine our workflow through 2020 and beyond.
2. Provide exposure to new technologies that may become useful to the
civil engineering profession, particularly as the traditional boundaries
between engineering disciplines are becoming increasingly fluid,
incorporative, and robust.
3. Serve our members, by providing relevant content timeously, always
taking cognizance of their needs.
4. Provide support to current members so as to be able to tackle their
challenges with technological advancements in the sector.
5. To attract more professionals into the industry, particularly by
encouraging young professionals to become aware of new technologies,
whilst always maintaining regard to their social, environmental, and
economic impact.
