The ECS appears as a switchboard functioning in and across all physiologic processes and organs, acting and reacting to internal and external stimuli to direct, correct and overall manage our health. The ECS can be broken down into core components. Cannabinoid receptors like CB1 and CB2. Ligands called endocannabinoids that bind to those receptors and initiate an action, such as anandamide and 2-AG. Enzymes that synthesize these endocannabinoids on demand when they’re needed and break them down after they’re used.
Hundreds of plant based cannabinoids found in cannabis and other plants that mimic or modulate our endocannabinoids, have the potential to supplement the endocannabinoid system in therapeutic manners and facilitate our natural physiological function.
The main contributors to ECS dysfunctioning and disease are related to our lifestyle including high stress levels, unhealthy nutrition and lack of cannabimimetic practices, such as sleeping, exercising, deep breathing and social interactions.
