Prathap Foundation for Education & Training was established in 1976 by Dr. G. P. C. Nayar with a vision to set new benchmarks in professional education. Under this foundation, the School of Communication and Management Studies (SCMS) began its journey by offering Postgraduate Diplomas in Mass Communication. In 1993, the foundation expanded into management education with the launch of a full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) at SCMS, which later evolved into what is today known as the SCMS Cochin School of Business.
