The SEMAS-EMSWe Project aims at supporting the implementation and deployment of the European Maritime Single Window environment (EMSWe) in the participating Member States (Italy, Finland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and The Netherlands) with ports along seven TEN-T core network corridors.
Defined in Regulation (EU) 2019/12391, it is the legal and technical framework for the electronic transmission of information about reporting obligations for vessels arriving at, staying in and departing from European Union ports. It is a network of Maritime National Single Windows (MNSW) with harmonised reporting interfaces.
The SEMAS-EMSWe Project covers the transition from the existing Maritime Single Windows (MSW) in each Member State to the MNSW established within the context of the new EMSWe Regulation. This transition represents a significant change and requires an important set of developments both at European Commission level and at Member States level.
SEMAS-EMSWe supports the Sustainable and Smart Mobility
Strategy's goals by introducing a common, smart and interoperable environment for shipping with harmonised interfaces facilitating the electronic transmission of reporting formalities for vessels calling at EU ports. It will improve the European maritime transport sector’s competitiveness and efficiency by reducing administrative burden, contribute to the establishment of a modern and competitive digital
EU infrastructure, and support the free movement of goods and passengers.
