SHARE (Sexual Health Advocacy and Research at Emory) is a research lab housed within the Department of Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences (BESHES) at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University, Atlanta, GA. Under the leadership of Professor Don Operario, Chair of the BESHES Department, and Program Coordinator Ruwenne Moodley, SHARE is driven by a dynamic team of graduate research assistants dedicated to advancing social and sexual health research globally. At its core, SHARE’s mission is to address health disparities within vulnerable communities, with a special focus on populations often marginalized in healthcare systems. The lab conducts research in diverse regions across the globe, including the United States, South Africa, the Philippines, and China, among others. By emphasizing sexual health in key populations such as men who have sex with men (MSM), transgender and gender-variant populations, and young and adolescent women, SHARE aims to to shed light on the unique challenges these groups face. Our research prioritizes understanding the social determinants that shape sexual health outcomes and advocates for evidence-based interventions that empower vulnerable populations. SHARE is committed to generating impactful insights that can lead to tangible changes in policy, healthcare practice, and community-based advocacy, ensuring that the most at-risk communities receive the attention and resources they deserve.
