SHE 4 Change Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering marginalized communities in Africa through education, mentorship, entrepreneurship, agriculture and financial inclusion. Our vision is to create a world where marginalized rural people have access to quality education, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and social services, allowing them to live empowered, sustainable, and dignified lives. We believe that by providing the necessary resources, skills, and support, individuals and communities can build a better future for themselves and future generations.
In 2020, the Ghana Statistical Service estimated that 14 million Ghanaians were multidimensionally poor, with poverty in rural areas being more than twice that of urban areas. Despite possessing employable skills such as sewing, these women lack the resources to produce and monetize their products for the market, resulting in a monthly income of only $40 which is below the poverty line in Ghana.
Growing up poor myself, I understand what it's like to be without opportunities. This company started from my desire to not only free myself, my family, and my community from the generational cycle of poverty, to experience freedom, social and financial inclusion, and independence in order to live with dignity and respect, but also to promote my rich African heritage.
Through SHE, I have decided to return to my roots to lift people, particularly women, in marginalized communities such as the one in which I grew up out of poverty, and to bring back to life what is at risk of being lost.
