For over 25 years, Master of Planning students enrolled at Dalhousie
University has put on an annual conference which aims to provide a
forum to discuss a variety of planning matters. This conference, titled
SHIFT is free to attend and dedicated to discussing a variety of topics
related to our communities.
Resources within Dalhousie's School of Planning, along with those of
community partners, ranging from such organizations as professional
planning bodies, government agencies, and business communities. The
conference strives bring professionals, planning students, community
groups, and other interested actors together to discuss and debate
current topics in planning. The conference is primarily organized by
students, with a faculty advisor (currently Gareth Wasylynko) as a
supervisor.
Conference themes are chosen for their immediate relevance to the
wider community. A strong effort is made to link these themes with
related activities occurring elsewhere in Halifax and across the province.
